Knowledge of Hashem - soliciting comments

Concerning knowledge of Hashem, there seem to be only three possible positions:

  1. It is logically impossible for a creature to know its creator.
  2. It is logically possible for a creature to know its creator, but the creator has decided not to reveal himself.
  3. It is possible for a creature to know its creator, and the creator has in fact revealed himself.

The Rambam holds #3 that it is possible for man to know Hashem, and that after death he does know him — see Yesodei HaTorah 1:10 and Hilchot Teshuva 8:2. He thus holds at minimum that it is not logically impossible for a creature to know its creator.

The outstanding questions are:

For position 1: What would be the proof that it is logically impossible for a creature to know its creator?

For position 2: Why would the creator withhold this knowledge from man, given that it is possible to bestow it, and it would be a great benefit to the creature to know this,
