Coriolis effect

A few weeks ago a chassid from Boro Park visited the yeshiva and told me that a student disagreed with a statement in my series on science. I said that water will evacuate from a container in a spiral motion and that motion in the Northern Hemisphere is opposite to the motion in the Southern Hemisphere. The student apparently said that there is no such effect. Now the truth is that I said that the effect is only visible in water that is still [which may take some time without disturbance to create] and in a very symmetrical containter. And the effect is real - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriolis_effect. The reason I am posting this here is that I do not have the name or address of the chassid in Boro Park. Perhaps he will see this and pass it on to the student.
